Kurtis Hagen earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Hawaii in 2002. He received a scholarship and then a postdoctoral fellowship supporting a total of four years of study and research in Japan. He then taught philosophy for eleven years at SUNY Plattsburgh, becoming Associate Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department. He is now an independent scholar and author with a variety of projects underway, including a nearly finished co-authored textbook on early Chinese philosophy, and also a completed manuscript on Confucian political philosophy, Lead Them with Virtue: A Project for a New Confucian Century. He has also published on the philosophy of conspiracy theories, with a book on that topic underway.
